Blake Lively’s Legal Team Accuses Justin Baldoni’s Attorney of Misleading Statements
In an ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, Lively’s lawyers have accused Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, of making public statements that are “misleading and selective” about Lively and her ongoing legal dispute with Baldoni. They have filed a letter in court requesting a hearing to address the appropriate conduct of counsel moving forward.
Freedman’s Release of Video Footage
The letter, filed in the Southern District of New York, comes after Freedman released video footage from the set of “It Ends With Us,” the film at the center of the legal battle. Freedman claims the footage “refutes” Lively’s characterization of Baldoni’s behavior. He also announced plans to create a website with more correspondence and video footage to discredit Lively’s claims.
Lively’s Lawyers’ Response
In the letter, Lively’s lawyers cite two previous cease-and-desist letters sent to “The Wayfarer Parties” (Baldoni’s production company and publicity team) and directly to Freedman. They argue that the parties have continued a “harassing and retaliatory media campaign” and that Freedman’s conduct threatens to prejudice the jury pool in both Lively’s sexual harassment case and Baldoni’s defamation case.
Request for Hearing and Protective Order
Lively’s lawyers intend to seek a protective order to govern further proceedings in the case and believe a hearing is necessary due to the “imminent harm” caused by Freedman’s statements. They request the court to schedule a hearing to address the appropriate conduct of counsel moving forward.
Background of the Legal Dispute
The legal battle began in December when Lively filed an initial complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment on the set of “It Ends With Us.” Baldoni has denied the allegations and filed defamation lawsuits against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, and The New York Times.
